Chamomile and Lavender Tea
🕒 Drying Time: 1-2 weeks | 🕒 Prep Time: 30 min | 🕒 Steep Time: 15 min
🍽️ Servings: NA
Ingredients
1 teaspoon chamomile buds
1 teaspoon lavender buds
Instructions
You can buy dried chamomile and lavender buds online. However, if you are able to, I recommend purchasing fresh chamomile and lavender from your local farmers market or direct from a local farm.
Bundle 5-8 stems together, tie securely with string or a rubber band, and hang upside down, in a warm, dry, and dark space. They should be dry and brittle in one to two weeks.
Cut off dried chamomile and lavender buds and store in airtight containers separately.
Use a tea diffuser to steep the buds for 15 minutes. Enjoy hot or iced.
💚The Healthy Bit: Chamomile and Lavender 💚
Chamomile and lavender tea is caffeine-free and both herbs contain natural sedative properties. Chamomile interacts with receptors in the brain to reduce anxiety and promote sleepiness. Along with the calming aroma of lavender, the tea makes for a perfect pre-bedtime beverage. However, chamomile can also act as a diuretic so make sure to drink at least an hour before bedtime.
Both lavender and chamomile can relax the muscles in the gut which helps alleviate issues like bloating, gas, and indigestion when sipped with meals. Both plants also possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
